David graduated for Virginia Tech in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Wildlife. Following graduation he worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry for fourteen years (1985 – 1999) as a Service Forester, District Forester and Regional Resource Forester. His assignments included working in the coastal plain, piedmont and mountain regions of the state, which provided David with a well-rounded set of forest management perspectives.
Upon moving to North Carolina in 1999 he established True North Forest Management Services a full service forestry consulting and natural resources management company based out of Holly Springs , North Carolina primarily serving private forest landowners in Wake, Harnett, Chatham, Orange, Durham, Moore, Lee, Vance, Granville, Person, Alamance, Johnston and Franklin Counties.
